Harsh posted a comment about his favorite romantic flick being One Fine Day starring George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer, the 1996 super-mush movie much in the league of Sleepless in Seattle and Notting Hill [Infact, the Amir Khan and Manisha Koirala Starrer Akele Hum Akele Tum was inspired by Kramer vs. Kramer but its poster design was lifted straight frrm Sleepless in Seattle !!!].

Spot the Difference :D ?

I never had any favorite romantic movie, I
liked them all, because I am a beeg sucker for mush [sadly :P], but everything changed after I saw the pair of Before Sunrise n
Before Sunset, the best works of Richard Linklater. Starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, its for nothing that these flicks feature in Berardinelli all time TOP 100, and get commendations like "Nothing Short of Movie Magic".

Well, I hadn't read the reviews before [Usually I do, but this was just after I saw Mangal Pandey and hence wanted to watch anything to feel good after the disaster !], and then Magic Happened :).

First of all the movie featured my favorite premise for a date :), a couple meeting in a city they have never been to, and the only people they know is themselves :) [How I wish, but then hota hai :)]. Most of the mush movies suffer from an overload of Emotions and Drama and directors generally tend to
overabuse the tear buds of the gullible audience. But, not this one. The amazingly comfortable chemistry between the lead actors [How I wish Julie Delpy worked in Hollywood, mannn !! Is she stunningly cute or wat :)]...leads to one of the most natural expositions of love in Cinematic history.

There are no undue histronics involved, and u almost feel as if Delpy and Hawke are really lovers, me would really like to know how they dint fall in love after such a beautiful relationship they shared. I donn wanna give the premise away at all, each bit of it is worth watching on ur own. The Salaam Namaste "10 saalon ke baad kya tum yeh sochna chahogi, agar tumne woh chance le liya hota toh" thing is a straight lift-off from this masterpiece :), there are gems of dialogue strewn all-over, stay focussed :).

B4 sunrise [1995] ends on a premise that both the lead actors would meet again after
an year on a railway platform, and no contact details are exchanged. B4 sunset released in 2004, and features a 9-yr movie-age gap as well. As fate would have it, due to unavoidable circumstances they aint able to meet and then they get on with their lives. And after 9 years, fate brings them together again. And boss, hats off to Linklater, B4 sunset never ebbs even once, and its another good movie [not as grr8 as its prequel, but nevertheless good enuff to get into the TOP 10 movies of 2004, and that's saying something :D]. And the ending is something to kill for, I dunno how many of us would have expected this movie to end that way, I wasn't :).

So go ahead, and watch the super-couple wherever and whenever u can.

I wish, if and when Love happens to me, it happens this way, it will be idyllic as well as ideal :).

Love u all :)
