Well, as an antidote (?) to Don, last sunday I went watching Jaan-e-mann, despite immense protests by my company to the presence of Sallu singh. But went we did, and to mine thoda-sa and my company's utter surprise, it turned out to be a rather good watch. While sallu is restrained and hence, good :P, Akki is simply a master-class and Preity as usual is her chirpy, bubbly self.Its a Hitchy kind of tale, with Salman playing Smith to Akki's nerdy Bannerman (with his amazing nerdy laugh huh-huh-huh) and no points for guessing who is playing Eva Mendes, the only catch being there is no Allegra Cole here, both the doods (umm, okay :P) love Preity, and you have to watch it to find out who gets the babe !
Debutant Shirish Kunder, who has donned 6 hats of Writer, Editor, screenplay, story, Background score and Director follows in the footsteps of his better (?) half Farah Khan to do his own Mein Hoon Na, this one only far more soulful and more a musical a la Moulin Rouge (mind it, I am not in anyway comparing it to Rouge, am only trying to slot it in a genre).
The Background score is simply delightful and each frame is a diaspora of colors and even the SFX, which only form a smallie backdrop are not tacky, but very much state-of-the-art.
Chalo, atleast I can give a straightforward recommendation on this one :D. Go Ahead, and watch it. Its nice fare to say the least !
